It looks like TireRack now has tire weights under their specs section. Pretty cool.
For reference, I'm putting the current pricing next to it too.I'm using red for the lowest weight, and blue for lowest price, for a given size. FRONT (235/40-18): Competition: Pirelli P-Zero Corsa (M400 stock): 22 lbs ($135) Yokohama Advan A048: N/A Michelin Pilot Sport Cup: 22 lbs ($259) Dunlop SP Super Sport Race: 24 lbs ($120) Max Performance: Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position (GTO-3R stock): 26 lbs ($216) Continental ContiSport Contact 2: 22 lbs ($188) Dunlop SP Sport Maxx: 25 lbs ($215) Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3: 28 lbs ($177) Kumho ECSTA MX: 24 lbs ($127) Michelin Pilot Sport PS2: 22 lbs ($222) Pirelli P-Zero Nero: 23 lbs ($208) Pirelli P-Zero Rosso Asimmetrico: 23 lbs ($198) Yokohama AVS Sport: 22 lbs ($191) Toyo Proxes T1-S: 22.9 lbs - Soon to be replaced by T1-R REAR (265/35-18): Competition: Pirelli P-Zero Corsa (M400 stock): 23 lbs ($133) Yokohama Advan A048: 26 lbs ($301) Michelin Pilot Sport Cup: 24 lbs ($269) Dunlop SP Super Sport Race: 27 lbs ($129) Max Performance: Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position (GTO-3R stock): 29 lbs ($265) Continental ContiSport Contact 2: 25 lbs ($235) Dunlop SP Sport Maxx: 25 lbs ($255) Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3: 30 lbs ($258) Kumho ECSTA MX: 23 lbs ($178) Michelin Pilot Sport PS2: 25 lbs ($269) Pirelli P-Zero Nero: 28 lbs ($231) Pirelli P-Zero Rosso Asimmetrico: 26 lbs ($248) Yokohama AVS Sport: 25 lbs ($228) Toyo Proxes T1-S: 24.7 lbs - Soon to be replaced by T1-R Those Pirelli P-Zero Corsa's are lighter than I thought, the lightest complete set listed. They're also just a few bucks shy of the cheapest set. Of course, with 60 treadwear, they're not going to last very long (though you can't really compare treadwear ratings between different manufacturers). They'll probably be some seriously fun miles though. ![]() Here's another upcoming choice, which may work out well (235/40R18 available mid march, 265/35R18 available Q3/2005, according to their site): Falken Azenis RT-615 ![]() My understanding on them is they have a treadwear rating of 200, but that's so that they can qualify for certain classes for Auto-x. They perform very similar to DOT R-compounds. Toyo doesn't currently make our size for their new Proxes R888 DOT R-compound tire (100 treadwear), but hopefully they will. They're supposed to be reasonably close to the performance of the A048. The folks in Europe got em first, so they'll probably know better. ![]() Edit: Added info on Toyo Proxes T1-S |

Here's a comparison of some of the DOT R-compound tires above. They tested the Pirelli P-Zero Corsa, Yokohama Advan A048, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup, and the Dunlop Super Sport Race on a Porker GT3. Though (of course) the car, suspension setup, driver, and track surface matters, it gives you an interesting look into the differences between the tires. BTW, they did run much much closer to manufacturer recommended camber specs than we can get on our vehicles, at 2.55 degrees front, and 2.40 degrees rear. It won't translate directly over for our uses, but still...
http://www.nobleforums.com/images/on.../tires/gt3.pdf BTW, it's translated to English on the right side. ![]() |

A note to those looking at the Tire Rack for Pirelli Corsas. The tires on the M400 are Corsa ZR tires while those listed at the Tire Rack for $135 are YR tires. At first I thought this seemed like an awesome deal and I was ready to purchase a bunch of them but then I noticed that this is not the exact same tire. |

Rich,
That might not mean much. The Z rating is basically obsolete. It was for 149+ MPH years ago but how much over was questionable. To answer the question they came up with W and Y ratings. W is jsp168 MPH and Y is 186 MPH. Check it out here. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...eral/speed.jsp |

An interesting, yet far less comprehensive take on the Pirelli Corsa, along with a short comparison with the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup DOT-R tire:

It is a bit dissappointing to not see Hoosiers on that list.

Just picked up an extra set of the P-Zero Corsas for my track-day Dymags (joined the group buy Paul Cundy arranged for the Dymags) and boy do the Pirellis make the Elise LTS tires look puny (235mm vs. 175mm width front, 265mm vs. 225 width rear).
