Another new DOT-R tire hits the streets, the Nitto NT-01. Supposedly, it's similar to the Toyo Proxes T888 (the "replacement" for the extremely popular RA-1), though the tread design is different.

A bit wider than our stocks though.

If you're going with track day wheels, why not go with slicks?

AFAIK Mike wants to drive his car to/from track days so must have street-legal rubber mounted on the track wheels. Especially since carrying an extra set of wheels/tires in the car is not an option .

Default Looking for P Corsa's

I just thought I would bump this thread as I am looking for a new set of rear tires.

It looks like www.tirerack.com has stopped selling them. Does anyone know where else to get them?

Thanks

According to the Tire Rack Pirelli is no longer making the Corsas in the size that we need. Right now I have a set of wheels with Hoosier R6s and a set with Yokohama Advan 048s.

Yep - I cant find these tires anywhere - the ones listed on ebay are not available - even though they say they are for sale.

Anyone else got any leads?

Yokohamas are a good bet, especially if they have been properly heat cycled.
Do a few laps, take them off the car for about 24 hours, or just park the car for a day.

Michelin Cup tires are also excellent.

Nittos, and all of those other aftermarket brands are not so good, but they are cheap. Most of the time, they are consistent, which is important, and the main reason that you buy an R compound road tire in the first place.

The Hoosiers are really grippy, but their "DOT" tire is not recommended for street use. Those things are pretty light, about 30% lighter than most R compound tires in the same size.

The Yokohamas lasted well, and were dead consistent from the first lap to the last, over a period of more than a year.

The Yokohamas are very noisy, though.

I have driven with the Yokohamas on the street. They seem great but agree they are a bit noisy. I use the Hoosiers for the track and have been happy. I have also driven the Hoosiers on the street including in the rain. They may not be recommended for the street but they are totally fine on the street as long as you drive smartly if you get caught in poor conditions. I would recommend either tire.
